This week I flew on a plane for the first time in my life, and let me tell you it's a very weird experience. Ever since I learned about airplanes I acknowledged that the concept is very strange: a giant metal tube that somehow shoots itself into the air and stays air-born until it wants to come down? It seems crazy, like that spiel at the beginning of the Bee Movie where the narrator laments that bees are too fat to be able to fly and it doesn't make sense. Just wait until he learns about planes.
I experienced everything on my planes (three flights to be exact) with childlike wonder. It was so cool watching and feeling the plane take off. It was so cool seeing the cities from above, seeing the clouds from above (or from inside), and seeing cities at night where it looked a huge blanket of fireflies nestled on the ground. So beautiful. I almost felt self conscious being so entertained by it around many people who have seen that stuff many times before. But I think it's good to maintain whimsy in one's life. Especially as an adult.
So stay curious my jellybeans, and as always stay happy, healthy and safe.
